Alameda - The Enchanted Island City
Alameda is practically a secret island right in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. Once upon a time, I had never heard of Alameda... I was struggling to raise a little family in The City and threatening to move back to the midwest to help solve my "space issues".
Well Alameda is still pretty dense but it's a damned fine place for family living within easy striking distance of San Francisco and Marin. Kari has the dream commute... rides her bike to the ferry to her job in San Francisco. We can make it to Stinson Beach in about an hour if we get going early on weekends. Berkeley and Oakland are even closer and have a lot to offer.
